Author

Finn Jackson is an author, consultant, facilitator, and coach.

The first two decades of his career taught him three clear lessons:

  1. Working as a defence analyst taught him that the success of any (combat) organisation depends not on the strength of any one of its parts, but on how well they work together as a system.
  2. Working on competitor analysis and strategic cost reduction projects in a small but highly-regarded strategy consulting firm taught him that the success of any business organisation is driven by strategy. An MBA reinforced this world-view: strategy is king.
  3. Nine years leading business development and top to bottom changes to strategy, process, and organisation in a results-oriented global technology services company taught him that strategy without implementation is nothing: execution is king.

Writing The Escher Cycle was Finn’s attempt to reconcile these apparently different world-views. To find the building blocks that form a business system and whose performance determine its success. To integrate strategy and execution. To identify the key minimum activities needed to achieve strategic success.

The result was a book that one reviewer said, “brings strategy into the very heartland of business operations.” Others called it “a unified theory of business” that provides “a blueprint for winning any game your business chooses to play” and “describes business as a living system.”

Since publishing The Escher Cycle, Finn has worked in an NGO, co-founded an Internet startup and a civil society organisation, and co-written a screenplay.

He has also written a second book, which reviewers are calling, “An inspiring manual for improving our ability to prosper in VUCA conditions,” “Essential reading for any leader who wants to thrive in times of change,” and “A book which should be on every change-maker’s bookshelf.”

Finn now works with clients to generate clear understanding of where they are, inspiring visions of where they want to be, and straightforward, practical plans to get there.

Born in Darjeeling, North East India, Finn holds a degree in physics from Oxford University and an MBA with distinction from Imperial College, London.

His values are honour, harmony, and empowerment. His purpose is to create a generative world.
